TITLE: Monk's Path
I took this photo on a trip to Egypt I did with my family. We went to the desert to visit the convent that was built by St. Antony the Great who retreated in the mountains and dedicated his life to solitude and prayer.
This picture, therefore, had the purpose to show this life of solitude that is pursued, to this day, by the monks that live in this lost monastery in the desert.
However, important for me was also to give the idea that such solitude does not necessarily mean loneliness, but rather reflects a serene state of peace. I tried to express this idea by portraying the priest, photographed mid-walk, appearing almost susepended in space and time. The only thing that seems to connect him to Earth is his own shadow
