TITLE: The Warrior’s Silence
The man sits in profile, eyes closed, as if withdrawing from the noise of the world. His silence is not peace, but armor. In the stillness of his face lies the weight of battles—some fought on skin, others buried deep in the mind. His closed eyes do not suggest sleep or surrender, but resistance: a refusal to let the world see the storm raging within.
Across his temple, the dark paint bleeds into his skin like a scar carried forward through time. It is war paint, but also memory. A mark that speaks of survival, of defiance, of the courage to carry visible what most people hide. It is both mask and wound, protection and confession.
The sculpted hair, sharp as a blade, crowns his head like a weaponized crest. His profile is strong, deliberate, chiselled by choice and endurance. Wrapped in a heavy blanket, he becomes fortress-like—shielded, but never softened. The fabric does not comfort; it isolates. It separates the man from a world that has already taken too much.
Rendered in black and white, the image strips away all illusions. Light and shadow expose the raw geometry of pain and strength. No color distracts from the truth: resilience is forged in silence, dignity is carried through scars, and even in stillness the body speaks volumes.
This is not a gentle portrait. It is ruthless in its honesty. The closed eyes deny the viewer direct connection, forcing them instead to witness without intrusion. What remains is a man who does not beg for recognition, who does not seek pity. He simply is—present, marked, unbroken.
The silence in this portrait is louder than any scream.
AUTHOR: Tamara Zizkovsky (Austria)
My name is Mara, I am 32 years old, and I am still at the beginning of my artistic journey. After many years I have found my way back to creativity, using photography as a language to explore what words cannot capture.
I am fascinated by the duality of human existence—the strength people show and the vulnerability they try to hide, the way pain is often masked by silence or a smile. My work seeks to reveal those hidden layers, to honor both resilience and fragility.
At the same time, I am drawn to the beauty of nature, to its quiet strength and fleeting moments. Through my lens I want to hold onto these impressions and weave them into stories that feel both raw and timeless.
For me, photography is not just about images—it is about truth, empathy, and the courage to see.
