Photography transcends time. It takes you to places you have never been. It makes the world a smaller place. When I am photographing a landscape, a person, a sport, an event or just experimenting with a medium and trying to develop my ideas, my worries in life just fade away and I become one with my subject and surroundings. It is a very real experience for me. I just love photography for expressing what I love about life and the satisfaction of creating something unique that represents my vision.

I was born in the Azores Islands, Portugal. At an early age I become interested in photography and as a teenager, during the 70’s, I learned how to develop black and white film and started to print my own photos. Around that time I won first prize in a local photo contest. Growing up I had a love for airplanes and decided to pursue a career as a professional pilot. Because of the demands of a family and life as an airline pilot, my involvement with photography slowed quite a bit with only rare and short periods dedicated to any kind of photography. My love for photography never died and now retired in California I finally have the time to return to the hobby that I always enjoyed. During the last two years I have been actively photo shooting and trying to further develop my photographic skills.
