TITLE: Carrying the Sacred
Women from the Escuela de Cristo brotherhood walk together during a Holy Saturday procession in Antigua, Guatemala, carrying a platform with the statue of the Virgin of Sorrows. In slow, measured steps, they sustain a tradition nearly five centuries old.
The ritual becomes not only an act of penitence, but also a time of reflection, shared faith and remembrance of the ancestors.
