TITLE: White Arctic Fox in headwind

This was taken on a brutally cold day in Svalbard. The wind was ferocious and the visibility was pretty awful. Despite the odds, and just as we decided it was time to call it a day and return to our accommodation without any photos, we had a sighting of this Arctic Fox. The light was fading but there was no time to screw on a faster lens.

I lay down in the snow to so as to not spook the fox. This also brought other advantages such as providing me with some stability in the high wind and also a low angle.

Taken with my Canon R5, my trusty Canon RF 100-500mm lens, and the coldest fingers imaginable at 1/1600 sec, f/7.1, ISO 3200
