During a hike in Corcovado National Park, a sudden sound from the dense vegetation revealed the presence of a cougar resting in a dried out riverbed, well hidden behind the branches seeking shade in the oppressive heat of Costa Rica's dry season.

Tobias Metzner is a german physician and amateur wildlife photographer based in Berlin. He was born in 1991 in Zittau, located in eastern Germany. Photographing wild animals in their natural environment is a passion that he has constantly developed within the last years, inspired by several journeys around the world. Already in 2011 a profound attraction for the tropics was ignited during a longer stay in Panama. Besides being a medical professional he more and more tries to showcase his work to a broader public. He already gained recognition during Siena International Photo Awards 2025 and MonoChrome Awards 2025.
