TITLE: In the Box

The images were made with a home made5x4 Afghan style box camera. The Afghan camera not only takes the photograph but also allows the paper negative to be processed immediately after shooting inside the camera.
The final image is entitled "in the box" as the visual process was created in a box, the intention was to combined images to illustrate the restrictions brought about by the camera they were made with.

In Afghanistan and other countries where these cameras were originally used, they were used for simple street portraits, so it is unusual to work with them to make still life images due to the fact that the camera needs to be kept reasonably straight and cannot be tilted due to the fact that there are chemicals in small dishes inside.

I have built my own camera based on the traditional Afghan street camera and my submission for this competition was photographed on paper negatives with this camera.
