TITLE: Finestra del Castello di Fénis

Looking toward the light cast through the castle window on a spring's late day (Ousta, Italy), it felt as if the grander scale of time did not exist and was only a figment of one's imagination. The light had landed on this wall before, likely on a day and in a mood very similar to this very moment, and will again. My aim was to capture this calm and introspection, in hopes it may be conveyed within this untouched photograph.

Nabil West has spent the better part of his life in Brooklyn, NY as well as several other cities, working in various art scenes. In 2009, he had a life changing accident that placed him in intensive care. After multiple surgeries and rehab, West had a near-full recovery. The accident had a profound impact on how he views the world and his time in it, providing a reminder that time can be short. "Life is best spent appreciating it's beauty, apparent and hidden". West not only appreciates this beauty, but attempts to capture and share in his fine art photography that he began sharing with the world as recent as 2022. Before his most current work if Iceland in Grayscale, Nabil had already started presenting his work with almost no alterations, embracing the image's natural beauty. Now more than ever, his photography has moved in the direction of abstract, often textured, with a painted quality captured in a way that only he does.

He now runs a fine art gallery (N.West Gallery) in New Canaan, CT, and lives a private life nearby. Nabil maintains an almost non existent presence on social media, primarily driven by a belief that relationships bear the most fruit through direct interaction. Nabil was nominated by the IPA for Photographer of the Year, which brought him to Carnegie Hall to be recognized. In addition, he had the honor of receiving the International Photography Awards 2023 Event Photographer of the Year for his NYC Women's March 2017 photograph.
