Tommy Nigbor is a self-taught fine art photographer based in northern Wisconsin, working from the landscape he's called home for most of his life. His subjects are overlooked and weathered, old wells, abandoned structures, ice fishing shanties, forest interiors at night — photographed in total darkness, each element illuminated by hand.
At the heart of the work is a single obsession: the moment when an object has lost its original purpose and become something stranger. Not abandoned, not decayed, just suspended between what it was and what it's becoming. That threshold is what he is looking for. The result is familiar but unstable.
