TITLE: Curvature of the Spine

The circular staircase at Hermes (Beverly Hills, California) is lit by a skylight. While ascending, I had a brief moment to capture the staircase empty of customers. The curves demanded focus! I chose a point of view that eliminated the risers. While bright, I kept the skylight in the frame. Using a darker contrast, I emphasized the serpentine nature of the architectural deign. Monochrome further enabled me to create an abstract that is reminiscent of the supple nature of an Hermes scarf.

I'm an award-winning amateur photographer, searching for the marvelous in the mundane. As an introvert, photography is my language of choice. Early on, my work focused on pics of my travels or snapshots of family gatherings. Now, I photograph daily. I want to capture the world as I experience it – with joy, awe, surprise and humility. My images have been published in The Malibu Times Magazine and the Toronto Star. In August 2026, I will have 8 images in an exhibition in Vienna, Austria.
