TITLE: The Dark Side

This triangular building in Santa Monica (California) has a graphic quality to its design. The dark windows contrast against the light cement walls. Given its shape and positioning, one side of this building is lit while another side typically remains in the shadows. I centered the building in the frame. Lit by soft winter light, I chose to brighten the lit side while darkening the shadowed side, leaving the essence of a structure. Monochrome enabled me to make the strong, bold lines the focal element.

I'm an award-winning amateur photographer, searching for the marvelous in the mundane. As an introvert, photography is my language of choice. Early on, my work focused on pics of my travels or snapshots of family gatherings. Now, I photograph daily. I want to capture the world as I experience it – with joy, awe, surprise and humility. My images have been published in The Malibu Times Magazine and the Toronto Star. In August 2026, I will have 8 images in an exhibition in Vienna, Austria.
