TITLE: Unfolding Form
A form emerging from darkness, shaped by light and gesture. The image suggests a suspended movement, where volume and texture unfold gradually into presence. Between tension and stillness, the subject transforms into an abstract exploration of form, shadow, and transformation
AUTHOR: Maria Clemencia Arbeláez (Colombia)
María Clemencia Arbeláez is a Colombian architect and photographer whose work explores the relationship between light, matter, and form through images that move between the organic and the abstract. Drawing from her background in architecture, she approaches photography with a strong sense of structure, composition, and spatial awareness.
Her practice focuses on an intimate observation of nature, where detail, texture, and subtle transformations reveal new visual interpretations. Through the use of light, her images transcend the literal, creating contemplative visual experiences that invite a deeper engagement with form and perception.
She has participated in exhibitions in Colombia, the United States, Italy, and Spain, including Galerie Boulier in New Orleans and Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice, and will present her work at Mombo Art in Seville in June 2026. She is part of the publication 70 años en foco, by the Club Fotográfico Medellín, where she also serves as a board member.
