TITLE: Detonate

Detonate captures the moment of rupture. What reads as a dispersal of debris against a pale sky is in fact an inverted image of fast-moving water, with light scattering on the surface over a submerged metal plate during a single ten-second exposure. Dark sediment, particulate matter, and the disturbed currents of the water become a field of suspended motion: solid forms breaking apart, drifting, settling.

The image holds the parallel between physical destruction and emotional shock: the force of detonation and the sudden interior rupture of separation, loss, or the moment when something previously whole becomes irrecoverable.
