With images taken over the last 47 years, "Minor Events" considers how meaning emerges through quiet observation of ordinary human interactions, the often momentary juxtaposition of elements and the subtle character of place.

With inspiration from Henri Cartier-Bresson and other humanist photographers, Steven Silvers photographs the often overlooked, capturing contemplative compositions of people and places, both natural and man-made. His black and white images emphasize observation over explanation, favoring quiet presence rather than spectacle.​

Across two distinct but related ongoing projects -- Minor Events and In Presence of Place -- Silvers explores how meaning emerges through quiet observation of ordinary human interactions, the momentary juxtaposition of elements and the subtle character of locations. His photographs invite close looking and reflection without defining a specific narrative.

Combining photojournalism, documentary and fine-art practices, Silvers’ intuitive approach acknowledges photography’s dual role as both record and resonance: each image marks a specific moment in time while remaining open to interpretation. The work resists urgency, encouraging viewers to slow down and notice what is already there.

A long-time resident of Lakewood, Colorado, Silvers studied photojournalism at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications.​
