TITLE: Through

How much of our identity do we truly shape, and how much is shaped for us by the cultural garments we inherit without choosing them? This series moves through shadow and skin, tracing the fragile line between concealment and revelation. It reflects the ongoing struggle of how much vulnerability we allow the world to see, and how much remains hidden — even from ourselves.

The fabric that veils and binds the body suggests a second skin: the cultural frameworks we inherit without choice, shaping and sometimes constraining us. Within these boundaries, the body searches for a form that feels true. At times it resists, at times it yields; it reaches outward to touch the viewer, then folds back into itself.

The journey reaches its threshold in a moment of blinding radiance — not as an ending, but as a transition. After the light fades, we are left with a final confrontation. The gaze meets us directly, wrapped once more, but changed. A quiet inquiry into the characters we embody, existing somewhere in the shifting territory between the written and the unwritten.

AUTHOR: Piotr Skubisz (Poland)

Piotr Skubisz is a photographer with a passion for portrait and body photography. Explores themes of self-discovery and cultural identity. Drawing inspiration from studies at The Film School in Lodz and Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw, where he developed an interest in cultural anthropology, his images blend aesthetics with reflection. Recognized for his work, was shortlisted at the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards 2025. Received a Gold and Bronze medal at the PX3 2024 and an official selection in the IPA.
Based in Warsaw but enjoys traveling, eager to explore new horizons.
