TITLE: MYSTERY AND MELANCHOLY OF LALIBELA

Lalibela is one of many religious sites in Ethiopia. The place cast a spell on me. It was like like a journey through time and space, a journey into the depths of the mystery of life. We boast as humans that we have deciphered the human genetic code, created artificial intelligence, and so on. Despite these undoubted successes, the mystery of the meaning of life remains unsolved... Science won't help here, nor will artificial intelligence. I was reminded of this by my visit to Lalibela and observing the lives and rituals of the inhabitants of this extraordinary place.
