TITLE: Timeless Lines
Timeless Lines explores the abstract beauty and quiet strength of the human form. Captured in stark monochrome, the light and shadow transform the contours of the body into landscape. Vulnerable and powerful, the images in all its simplicity and complexity, holds a kind of eternal presence.
This series captures what it means to be sensual, yet not sexual, where intimacy emerges through soft gestures and the quiet language of light and form rather than overt display. These self – portraits resist the male gaze, embracing the idea of capturing how one might view themselves rather than focusing on how others might view them. This softness became a quiet dialogue between the body and the self, embracing the beauty of lines and curves without objectification.
AUTHOR: Dulcie May (Australia)
From a young age, I was drawn to grey lead pencil drawing and as an adult, I found my creative voice with photography. My work reflects my personal journey as a woman - both physically and emotionally, through an intimate, contemplative approach. I am drawn to figurative, abstract, and narrative-driven pieces that explore identity, femininity, and human connection.
Born in Australia with Dutch heritage, I grew up with little connection to my extended family in Holland. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I met a relative who is a sculpture artist. Discovering the artistic thread in my family and the uncanny similarities between us - deepened my drive to express my own figurative style.
