TITLE: The Creatures of the Olive Trees

The Creatures of the Olive Trees (or Hidden Mythologies) explores the ancient olive trees of Mallorca as living sculptural forms containing hidden creatures, archetypes and mythological presences.
Rather than photographing the landscape as documentation, the series transforms twisted trunks, roots and stones into hybrid beings that seem to emerge naturally from the Mediterranean terrain itself. Dragons, sleeping beasts, primitive guardians and animal forms appear embedded within the wood, as if mythology had never disappeared but remained dormant inside nature.
The human body is not presented as separate from the landscape, but as part of an ongoing metamorphosis — merging with the trees, protected by them, or slowly being absorbed into their organic structures.
Inspired by animism, Mediterranean mythology and the idea of pareidolia as a poetic act of perception, the work invites the viewer to actively discover hidden forms within each image. Nothing has been digitally manipulated; the creatures already existed within the trees and were revealed through framing, light and photographic interpretation.
By using black and white, the series removes temporal references and emphasizes texture, sculpture and symbolic presence, creating images suspended between reality, dream and myth.
Ultimately, Hidden Mythologies proposes the olive grove as a sacred territory where nature still preserves traces of ancient memory and invisible narratives.The Creatures of the Olive Grove

From his teens Pere Colom became totally dedicated to music, playing in several English based rock bands -Offbeats / SexBeatles-. Played also with Kevin Ayers for 5 years with which he toured Europe and recorded few TV shows.

In 1985, after some magazines such as PHOTO published his first color nudes, Colom set up his own studio. He worked in Fashion, Publicity and Interior Design. Collaborates with the most important magazines as Vogue, Elle, Donna, House&Garden.

In 1990 was selected along with 11 other photographers to exhibit their work at Epcot Center in Florida on the 150th anniversary of the birth of photography.

At the early 90’s he began to exhibit his artistic works in Art Galleries, Art Centers and Museums.
