TITLE: The Clan

In a book published on June 12 by André Frère Éditions, Benjamin Bechet explores the polyphony of popular
and scientiBc knowledge of the living world. From 2020 to 2024, Benjamin Bechet traveled the Vercors plateau and photographed the behavior of human beings with the natural environment and other living beings in the massif.
Through its rocky insularity and geophysical constraints, the Vercors develops its cultural singularity in the relationships its inhabitants maintain with the forest, game, protected species, and more.

"The Clan has set itself a dual mission: to understand what it means to live in contact with trees and animals, game or protected species, and to restore "grace" to a rural world, a "sacred dimension." Its black and white images, with an "American night" effect, highlight a closed, preserved world, outside of time. »

AUTHOR: BECHET BENJAMIN (France)

Adopting a photographic practice with an evolving grammar, Benjamin Béchet develops a contemporary documentary approach. He has co-founded and participated in collective ventures such as Dolce-Vita, Odessa Photographie(s), and the cooperative agency Picturetank.
Since 2020, he has devoted himself to new sensibilities for the living.
In 2022, he won the major commission from the BNF (National Library of France) with a cross-cutting theme on French forests.
In 2025, his first monograph, Le Clan, was published by André Frère Éditions.
