TITLE: Urban Shan Shui
Urban Shan Shui reinterprets the philosophy of traditional East Asian ink painting within the context of the urban landscape.
Whilst classical shan shui paintings depict mountains and rivers veiled in mist, this series unfolds within the city — among buildings, harbours, and ferries — under similar atmospheric conditions.
As seas of clouds envelop the city, architectural forms soften, and clarity fades, reshaping the scene. Rendered in monochrome, these images echo the mood and spirit of ink painting rather than ordinary photographs of the city itself.
