TITLE: In Order Given: Shaping and Attrition

This work examines how fragile forms momentarily occupy space through imposed structures, shaping disparate elements into fleeting coherence while engendering loss. The spider web operates as a formative mechanism—binding, suspending, and receding—revealing order as a temporary, precarious condition. What masquerades as protection is inseparable from erasure; meaning is not illustrated but encountered, held briefly within the tension between coherence and collapse. Rather than depicting decay, the series portrays order itself as an active force—one that demands continual reconstruction under the relentless pressure of time.

Lin Qing is a visual artist and photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), China, in 1993.

His background in painting informs his photographic practice, with a sustained focus on form, light, and the emotional rhythm of time. Working primarily through direct observation, he explores a visual language in which structure and perception gradually unfold.
