TITLE: The Tarped Landscape

Covering geotextiles protect plants from frost, pests and drought. A breathtaking natural landscape grows beneath them, covered with delicate veils. As if beneath the revealed world there is another, hidden, gentle, mysterious world.

Jarka Novotná studied at the School of Creative Photography in Prague. She is an artist, an illustrator and the author of several books, which often combine photography, paintings and haiku poems. She has been living in Prague since 2018.
The landscapes of the Jizera Mountains were her first creative inspiration. Her current work focuses on pieces with artistically stylized natural details – sometimes computer-manipulated – and on incorporating delicate surrealistic poetics into her photography when shooting agricultural landscapes, crops and objects found out in the open.
