TITLE: Papaveri Rossi / Red Poppies
Every photograph unfolds within a tension between the registration of reality and the construction of the image. Since its inception, photography has operated within this ambiguity, oscillating between a claim to truth and the production of convincing illusion.
The works presented here articulate this tension at the moment of exposure. Shot on film and printed in the darkroom, they are constructed through the physical insertion of printed elements within the scene, calibrated in scale, light, and perspective. What emerges is not post-production manipulation, but a situated construction within the same spatial and temporal conditions as the photographed reality.
The term aletography—“writing of truth”—designates both this body of work and a broader position. It does not assert objectivity, but re-situates construction within the material conditions of the world. Fiction is neither concealed nor removed: it is made tangible and compelled to coexist with the real.
In a visual culture dominated by digital imagery and invisible manipulation, aletography proposes a reversal: not eliminating construction, but inscribing it in physical, temporal, and verifiable terms. The image becomes a site where heterogeneous elements—times, spaces, presences—coexist without resolving into unity, and where the real is not simply represented, but continuously redefined.

My background in architecture, together with my experience as an assistant director and storyboard artist, my interest in pre-cinema and early cinema, and a strong inclination toward manual work, have shaped my visual research toward a material and craft-based understanding of the photographic image.
I currently work as a teacher and continue my photographic practice in a non-professional context.
