TITLE: Agri-Folds
Agricultural covering fabrics appear in the fields in spring to protect plants from frost, pests and drying out. They remain on the plants throughout their growth. They not only copy the plants below them and the furrows in the field, but also respond to external weather influences. They also show traces of people and animals, creating abstract works of art.
AUTHOR: Jaroslava Novotná (Czech Republic)
Jarka Novotná studied at the School of Creative Photography in Prague. She is an artist, an illustrator and the author of several books, which often combine photography, paintings and haiku poems. She has been living in Prague since 2018.
The landscapes of the Jizera Mountains were her first creative inspiration. Her current work focuses on pieces with artistically stylized natural details – sometimes computer-manipulated – and on incorporating delicate surrealistic poetics into her photography when shooting agricultural landscapes, crops and objects found out in the open.
