TITLE: Photo-graphics
Subjects in urban spaces, reduced to lines and shapes
AUTHOR: Marcus Jendretzke (Germany)
Born in 1972 in Ravensburg (Germany), I have lived in the Stuttgart area since the early 2000s. My main job is as a team leader in a publishing company, but my passion has always been artistic expression, and especially photography.
My photography focuses on works that examine how people shape their surroundings, especially away from structures planned according to aesthetic criteria or architectural “flagship projects.”
This results in series that, on the one hand, address absence and emptiness, desolation and decay in urban environments, but on the other hand also attempt to reveal an aesthetic in the ordinary and ugly that is inherent in these “non-places.”
The stylistic implementation ranges from a documentary approach with restrained color design to minimalist photography with a graphic look, often monochrome, and with artistic aspirations.
