TITLE: Still, In Motion

Each one of these glacial ice forms no longer exist. They appeared static upon brief observation, but as so often is the case with our impatient eyes, and the constant sense of urgency society imposes on us, that which appears stable is subtly dynamic, constantly evolving, evanescent and ephemeral. However, the fundamental elements (water in this case) remain the same, only affected by its circumstances and surroundings. This series was created to remind me of the impermanence of life, of all things around us. This project is to honor the presence and beauty in its current state of being.

I am a recently retired pediatric and adult congenital cardiologist, with a long history of love for photography. Especially during periods of great stress, I have always sought and found consolation in nature. For me, the depth, breadth, and complexity; the underlying rhythm and consistency of its basic elements resonate with me and assure me of our mutual interconnectedness to one another and all creation. Personally, photography for me is prayer as I seek to understand my journey back to God.
