TITLE: Light Becoming Ink

Light Becoming Ink explores the moment when light no longer reveals form, but instead permeates it and dissolves. Rather than representing visible reality, I approach the threshold where perception falters and form begins to disintegrate. Drawing from the notion of emptiness (空) in East Asian ink traditions and the Western concept of “unconcealment,” light is treated not as illumination but as the condition of appearance. In this context, emptiness is not absence, but an active field in which light emerges and disappears. Through duration, movement, and the deliberate destabilization of focus, the image is gradually reduced to a trace. What remains is not a represented object, but an afterimage—an imprint resembling ink, left by the passage of light. Landscape is no longer an object, but an event that dissolves before it can be fully perceived. Within emptiness, light becomes ink.

I explore the inner world of human beings and the essence of existence through the natural abstractions left by light, water, and wind.
The diffusion of light reflected on the surface of water, the surface stirred by wind, and the fading colors and forms become important visual elements in my work. I regard nature not as an object of representation, but as a resonant field where creation and disappearance, presence and absence intersect.
Rather than focusing on concrete subjects, I pay attention to flow and diffusion, silence and traces of light. Within this process, nature moves beyond realistic landscape and is transformed into abstract and contemplative imagery.
For me, photography is both a reflection of the world and a form of visual contemplation that reveals the sensations of the inner self.
By combining the painterly quality of light, the abstract nature of the natural world, and the contemplative quality of empty space, I seek to visualize the resonance of existence and the traces of invisible sensations through the language of photography.
