As the first light of dawn crept over the Kabini River, I fought the urge to snooze, lulled by the gentle ripples of our drifting boat. Just as our river safari was nearing its quiet end, a sudden flash of movement snapped me to attention. A Grey-headed Fish Eagle, sharp-eyed and swift, plunged toward the water, talons slicing through the surface with breathtaking precision. In an instant, it emerged, clutching a writhing fish in its grasp. A mix of admiration and quiet sorrow settled over me—nature’s raw and unforgiving beauty playing out before my eyes.
