TITLE: Sandbar
When I arrived at this sandbar in the Atlantic Ocean, I stood quietly taking in the vast, open expanse. The clouds are moving swiftly across the sky. The shallow water shimmered. To capture the detailed pattern of the sand, I opted for a monochrome shot. I felt the drama of the scene would best be captured in black and white.
AUTHOR: Rosemary Miklitsch (United States)
I'm an award-winning amateur photographer, searching for the marvelous in the mundane. As an introvert, photography is my language of choice. Early on, my work focused on pics of my travels or snapshots of family gatherings. Now, I photograph daily. I want to capture the world as I experience it – with joy, awe, surprise and humility. From nature and still life to architecture and city streets, I photograph a wide range of subjects. I love to wander, searching for sights that speak to me. Whether capturing vast landscapes or intimate details of ordinary objects, I embrace the wonder of this world.
My images have been exhibited in London, England; Venice, Italy; Chania (Crete), Greece; Athens, Greece; Glasgow, Scotland; Sciacca (Sicily), Italy; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Oakville, Ontario; Santa Monica, California; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Atlanta, Georgia and Portland, Oregon. My images have been published in The Malibu Times Magazine and the Toronto Star.
