TITLE: The fisherman's hut
The fishermen's huts in France are each exceptionally beautiful in their own right. Here I had positioned myself slightly behind the cliffs to photograph the hut like a secret observer. The long exposure gives the hut even more significance.
AUTHOR: Silke Schönborn (Germany)
Hello, I'm Silke, an architect in Germany/Cologne with a great passion for photography. The world of photography has fascinated me for many years and I have acquired all the knowledge and skills related to photography myself. Over the years, photography has become more and more important to me.
However, both architecture and photography have many things in common, such as the interplay of light, form, geometry and color, and both give me the opportunity to be creative. What I particularly like about photography, however, is that there are far fewer boundaries and I can give my creativity a lot of freedom without being restricted by legal requirements. I photograph less in a specific direction, but rather everything that influences my life in some way. We are all surrounded by infinite beauty and inspiration. This can be in the deepest forest as well as in an urban space.
The love of detail and a good sense of harmony have already shaped me professionally as an architect and are certainly the starting point for many of my photographs. There is a quote from the architect Mies van de Rohe that has always accompanied me in both architecture and photography: “Less is more.” That's why my pictures are often reduced to the essentials and have a minimalist effect.
