TITLE: Großkraftwerk 1
This black-and-white photograph isolates a fragment of the Großkraftwerk Mannheim, a coal-fired power plant in southwestern Germany. Stripped of its industrial context, the structure reveals itself as a composition of lines, surfaces, and geometric clarity.
The image is part of an ongoing visual engagement with the plant—an architectural presence that has quietly shaped my everyday surroundings. Living nearby, I encounter this structure constantly. It appears at the edges of daily life: when arriving home, when leaving, when simply looking out.
By reducing the scene to form and contrast, the photograph invites the viewer to see beyond function—to find stillness, order, and perhaps even a quiet kind of monumentality in the infrastructure that surrounds us.
