TITLE: VIETNAMESE CHILDREN
In the mountains of northern Vietnam, children from the Black Hmong community grow up in a world where innocence rubs shoulders with the harshness of everyday life.
Through this series, I wanted to bear witness to their reality: a childhood lived in the middle of dirt alleys, terraced fields and dusty roads where scooters and trucks circulate.
There, they spend their long recess in the streets and play mixes with danger: they run barefoot between vehicles, play with dogs on the side of rice fields, and climb on the back of a peaceful buffalo. An old plastic toy becomes a treasure, a simple stick is enough to invent an adventure.
Despite the precariousness, their energy is intact and it is their looks that mark: a mixture of innocence and precocious maturity. Some shine with mischief, others carry the weight of a difficult reality.
These photos are an immersion in a daily life where everything is fragile, but where each moment is lived fully.
Between innocence and resilience, this series bears witness to a childhood that is both harsh and poetic.
AUTHOR: Anaïs Mahieux (France)
Passionate about photography for several years, I began behind the lens by capturing the beauty of nature and landscapes.
Over time, my gaze turned towards humans, and I tend to specialize in portraiture.
I particularly like photographing children, capturing their spontaneity and authenticity in natural moments of life.
Nature remains an essential source of inspiration in my work ; I like to integrate it into my portraits to create images full of softness and emotion.
Natural light plays a key role in my compositions. It allows me to explore a wide range of moods, from warm and bright atmospheres to darker and more mystical universes.
