TITLE: The Eyes of the Buddha
The word Buddha comes from the Sanskrit word Buddhi which among other things means to be awake or aware. In Buddhist practice, it is encouraged to look at others as being truly more awake and aware than we ourselves are. In this way we expand our awareness by steps as we see our own ability to be aware in others.
This series stretches from the streets of Thailand and Tokyo to the bars and bistros of middle America. It features folks from many walks of life and in different situations. Despite these differences each time we find someone as they gaze back over that great distance between our hearts and minds. And as they gaze back, awareness gazes back with them.
AUTHOR: Kyle Cunningham (United States)
I'm entrepreneur, software engineer, user experience designer, world traveler, and hobbyist photographer. I enjoy meeting people and documenting slices of life throughout the world. In traveling to over 20 countries with major stints living outside of the United States I've been lucky enough to meet a huge variety of individuals.
Many have been kind enough to let me be a small part of their stories. I'm honored to compete with photographers here, many whom are professional and whose photos are an absolute inspiration.
