TITLE: Headhunters
The Konyak tribe of Nagaland were once fierce warriors and known to bring back the heads of their conquered victims as trophies. With the introduction of Christianity and the mass conversion of the tribes this practice has ceased. I visited the tribes home state of Nagaland during their annual spring festival - celebrating renewal of the earth and the end of the sowing period. Pictured are the elder men of the tribe; the last of the true headhunters - dressed in their traditional attire. April 2025
