TITLE: The surgeon's artwork

Years of training, thousands of night and day hours of work shape your skills. Dedicating those skills, the concentration, the teamwork again and again to those in need is the daily routine in our hospitals. Cutting off the harsh lights, the surrounding machines and bigger instruments of the operating room, and focussing on the fine handcraft and teamwork instead during this photo documentary lets me celebrate this quiet artistry. "The surgeon's artwork" is a tribute to the human touch that transforms science into a masterpiece.

I am a german photographer based in the Netherlands. Being a medical specialist in the field of anesthesiology I focus on bringing out the art of medicine in my documentary photography approach. I love playing with light and shadow and the contrast of different workflows during documentary and portrait photography.
