TITLE: Faces of Good Friday in Antigua Guatemala
In a mixture of Spanish heritage and influence of the indigenous peoples, Holy Week in Antigua Guatemala is one of the most recognized external expressions of faith on the continent. In it it is possible to appreciate the devotion to his images of passion in which the ancestral cult of death is interspersed, which is appreciated in some of the photographs of the series in which incense is the protagonist in each procession. Another unique feature is the size of the processional furniture or "andas" that come to have like the one exposed here more than 25 meters long and is loaded by 120 cucuruchos or penitents distributed in 60 per side which are distributed from one side to the other in time with the reel of drums or funeral marches taken by martial band. For this and many reasons, Holy Week in Guatemala and especially in Antigua is unique.
