TITLE: Glances
Description of the series:
The animals that inhabit our forests have developed the art of hiding and moving freely, far from our gaze. To capture that rare and magical moment when one observes the other, we must rediscover this deep instinct, this ability to hide. The unique atmosphere of waiting, then of meeting, is at the heart of the "Glances" exhibition. The animals reveal themselves to the public, playing with the landscape, nestling in the heart of the vegetation. But who is hiding, the animal or the photographer ?
Context of the series:
This exhibition is made up of photos all taken in the same forest, and is the result of 10 years of photographic research. I wanted to take the place of the animals and to share their state as they try to survive in the wild. Actually, I imitate their “art of hiding” to come close to them and hope for a meeting. I continue to stay hidden when the meeting happens and shoot from my initial position to share the first moment I see them emerge from the vegetation of the darkness. I want to show the art of camouflage they use to avoid their enemies. I choose B&W to increase the lack of visibility as it tends to unite various elements inside the image and at the same time to control the abstraction and give us the opportunity to see the hidden animals when we look at the images carefully.
