TITLE: Les murmures de l'âme
A visual wandering between past and present, reality and imagination, dream and nightmare, this photographic series speaks to our unconscious and aims to be dreamlike, strange, and unsettling.
A mix of memories, dreams, desires, fears, and hopes.
"Close your eyes and you will hear them,
Childhood secrets whispered to the winds,
Promises of love evaporating in the light of dawn,
Close your eyes and you will perceive them,
Shadows of the past running through the wild grasses,
Lost treasures floating under the moon,
Close your eyes and you will feel them,
Whiffs of nostalgia,
Petrichor, stone blood, the scent of the earth after the storm."
« Les murmures de l’âme » - Marie Sueur
AUTHOR: Marie SUEUR (France)
My parents loved to travel. I was born in Cameroon, my sister in Chad, and my brother in Morocco. From this childhood, I kept the taste for discovery, travel, encounters, and the unexpected.
Self-taught, I have been practicing author photography for about ten years. This practice is essential for me because it allows me to express myself without constraints.
My works often deal with emotions, memory, and life. Subjects that are, by nature, elusive. They are not intended to give a strict representation of reality but to suggest what is not visible: the poetic, the metaphoric, emotions, and sensations. They address our unconscious.
Experimentation is an integral part of my artistic practice, which can be described as "plastic." I do not set limits, allowing myself to mix techniques and mediums: adding embroidery, painting, cardboard, cutting, etc.
I work on my series based on a scenography that I plan in advance because I intend my photographs to be presented at festivals and exhibitions.
