TITLE: Nocturnal Reverie
This series delves into the labyrinth of the subconscious, exploring how negative self-criticism can lead us down dark, narrow paths where we risk becoming unrecognizable—even to ourselves. Through this work, I aimed to create an otherworldly atmosphere that feels vague, unsettling, and harsh, yet ultimately invites a sense of peace and acceptance. It’s a deeply personal testament to my years of navigating mental health challenges and the place of balance I’ve found today.
For this series, I shot self-portraits in a San Diego studio using a Ricoh GR IIIx and a variety of handmade props and lighting. The images involve no editing or post-processing; all effects were achieved in-camera.
