TITLE: Where Nature Meets Concrete: A Symphony of Balance.
This series of black and white photographs, taken in Tenerife at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of La Laguna, is a compelling study in contrasts. The architectural work, attributed to GPY Arquitectos, masterfully juxtaposes the flowing organic forms of nature with modern geometric lines. In this series, the use of vintage lenses helped to give the images a unique texture and tone, enhancing the overall atmosphere.
The central theme is the harmonious interaction between nature and concrete. The palm trees, in shades of grey ranging from almost black to softly glowing, are a powerful symbol of life and vitality, their fronds echoing the curved lines of the building's design.
In these shots I wanted to show the coexistence of the structured, artificial environment and the wild, organic beauty of the palm grove, not in conflict but in potential harmony. The architecture seems to embrace the natural environment rather than dominate it, as a reconciliation of seemingly disparate elements into a unified and aesthetically pleasing whole. The use of a black and white aesthetic eliminates superfluous detail, allowing the viewer to focus on the fundamental relationships between form, texture and light, creating a powerful and lasting impression.
