TITLE: Gehry Staircase
Designed by Frank Gehry, this iconic staircase at the Art Gallery of Ontario, is captured in this series by highlighting the shape, form and texture of the Douglas fir timber cladding. These architectural features are also showcased through the interplay of light and shadow.
AUTHOR: Mark Stevens (Australia)
Based in Adelaide Australia, I am an award-winning photographer with a special interest in photographing the built environment.
I am always striving to highlight the aesthetic value of a building and am particularly interested in capturing close detail of a structure to create a degree of abstractness and utilising techniques such as multiple exposure, intentional camera movement and image stacking to help tell different ‘stories’ about the architecture and its place in the environment.
By virtue of an extensive International Exhibition record, I earned the Photographic Society of America distinction of Qualified (QPSA) in 2019.
In 2022 I was awarded the honour of Master of the Australian Photographic Society (MAPS) in ‘recognition of artistic skill, talent and creativity in photography’ and in 2023 the distinction Excellence Bronze (FIAP/b) by The International Federation of Photographic Art.
Recognition includes 20 Gold, 5 Bronze and 6 Silver medals awarded in peer review judging competitions in addition to numerous honourable mentions, certificates and ribbons.
