TITLE: In Light

The project stems from a deep desire to explore the interaction between light and familiar objects. By adopting a subtractive approach, the aim is to use light itself as a medium to portray shapes and volumes. The choice of black and white facilitates a pure exploration of contrast, eliminating the "distractions" of color, and allowing light and shadow to take center stage. This approach heightens the viewer’s awareness of the interplay between highlights and darkness, encouraging a focus on the details that light unveils, or deliberate absence.

All photographs were taken within a single room, utilizing its existing furnishings as structural elements. Two light sources were employed: artificial lighting from lamps already present in the room, and natural light filtering in from the outside. The images were captured by moving through the space, leveraging the interplay of contrasts shaped by the furniture. Ordinary details, illuminated at different times of the day, become protagonists in a visual and sensory dialogue.

Ultimately, the project is a study of the revelation of light by capturing its initial interaction and transformative effect on surfaces. It is an inquiry into the fundamental and primordial source and nature of light, offering insights for reflection on its often overlooked, yet fundamental and timeless, importance. "In Light" extends beyond the aesthetic and functional dimensions of illumination, delving into its philosophical and emotional resonance. Each phase of the project invites the viewer to engage deeply with its visual and conceptual layers, fostering a rich and contemplative experience.
