TITLE: Dimensions
I took this photograph on the occasion of the Fontana Arte - Vivere nel Vetro exhibition at "Le Stanze del Vetro", Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice. The shot dates back to June 2022, when many of the restrictions due to the pandemic situation began to lapse and, finally, certifications were no longer required to travel. Venice, like other cities of art, was beginning to be repopulated with international tourists.
While I was admiring the works on display I noticed the visitor with the hat through the reflective surfaces of the installations on display and I instinctively took the shot.
The title “Dimensions” is the same as the series to which this photograph belongs and refers to the different dimensions of existence. In addition to the space-time dimensions, for everyone there is an internal dimension populated by dreams and possibilities.
I used reflective surfaces as portals to other dimensions, a meeting point between perceived reality and possible realities.
The choice of black and white is useful for creating a synthesis between the reflecting surface and the dimension of the observer.
In this way what is real and what is possible merge in the same image and coexist in the dimension of the dream
