TITLE: "About Sara"
This work, “About Sara” is part of a larger work that records my intimate environment.
It tries to show the personal story, the relationship with my daughter and the creative process at the same time.
From the classic portrait patterns, I use analog photography and its construction-deconstruction in the laboratory to provoke a not static but aesthetic image, enigmatic, where shadow, ambiguity and the veiled acquire importance. It is an introspection about the passage of time in what is most loved; the dissolution of the form-childhood and construction-framing in the world. The result, in this case, is a
serene and at the same time disturbing tension.
AUTHOR: Leonor Benito de la Lastra (Spain)
Biography:
I was born in Barcelona. I belong to the generation of the 60s (born in 1962).
After my stays in Madrid and other cities, I set my residence in Salamanca.
I studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca (Universidad de Salamanca), finishing my degree in 1988.
Thereafter, my life has been closely intertwined with photography.
Since 1997 until 2015 I ran the space "El Fotógrafo" (The photograph), located in Salamanca. It dealt with photography, collected photography material and consisted of an exhibition room with a specialised bookstore.
Relevant was the studio of the photographic memorial, with special attention to Castilla y León and Salamanca.
Later on, I took great interest in classical (analogue) photography, which lead me to the close relationship I now have with its traditional techniques.
Nowadays, I'm exclusively dedicated to my personal work.
