TITLE: Destiny
AUTHOR: Adam Akner (France)
In Paris, then in the Vaucluse, Dan Maarek, better known by his artist's anagram Adam Akner, was a doctor of pharmacy for 35 years. During his vacations, he traveled the world. His camera under his arm. He photographed landscapes, sculptures
sculptures, architectural lines. Silver for a while. Then digital for the last three decades. He captured suspended moments. Not totally a tourist. Not totally an artist. But a common thread.
Two years ago, Dan Maarek sold his business. A wind of freedom blew. It was then that the young retiree picked up his camera and, through his walks and encounters, discovered plastic photography, a creative, conceptual style of photography. An art in itself...
Like a tightrope walker on a tightrope, artist-photographer Adam Akner creates photographic tableaux - in limited editions - by interweaving several shots. "I add dreams to reality.
I transform the real into the imaginary. I add emotion to my creations. I create journeys that don't exist, but that I'd like to make.
The man of a thousand dreams is under the spell of contemporary art, while drawing his inspiration from a reality he makes his own. "I work from my photos, putting them together and retouching them. I start with an image or an idea to create a series.
When speech finds no more words then the photographer takes over.
