TITLE: A hard Days Knight
I was attending the Santa Fe Renaissance Faire at the Las Golondrinas Living History Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico,USA.
The Armored Combat League was conducting an ongoing demonstration of Armored Combat fighting in a small arena in the corner of the large faire. Every performer at the faire was giving their all but the ACL was by far the most impressive just for the sheer dedication and seeming love they had for their sport.
The members of the Armored Combat League attend Renaissance Fairs in various US states to demonstrate Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and Armored Combat to the eager crowds. Armored Combat involves real armor and historically accurate (though blunted) weapons. All the fights are full contact and no punches are pulled. Often the competitors are wearing over 100lbs of armor and padding and in this instance, fighting in the heat of the midday sun in New Mexico. It is not a sport for the feint of heart.
