TITLE: Emotions on the skin
The photographs tell the story of Lee, who lives with a degenerative disease that will prevent him from walking in the future. This art project has also been part of his process of accepting pain, which in many forms has become an unavoidable companion in his daily life. Far from rejecting this situation, Lee has turned his body into the diary of his personal history and evolution. Through the experience of tattooing, carried out by tattoo artist Marco Rocchi, he experienced another aspect of pain as a transformative and liberating element.
The photographs produced are the result of the direct influence of statues that populate the collective imagination.
I chose to represent Lee's relationship with his body in this way to emphasise the life-death contradiction, which exists in the body-soul ambivalence and which has inspired each of my shots.
Just as some of his tattoos represent allegories of life and death, I photographed the human body, inevitably subject to deterioration, in the form of a statue, an emblem of immutability.
The decay of Lee's body, subject to chronic exhaustion, becomes immortality of the soul in the form of a Michelangelo's David.
AUTHOR: Silvia Quadrini (Italy)
My name is Silvia Quadrini and I am an Italian freelance photographer and videomaker.
My love for photography, art and the audiovisual world has accompanied me since I was a child.
After graduating in Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia, I began my professional career as a lecturer at the same university.I later obtained a Master's Degree in Cinema and Audiovisual at the same Academy.
At the same time I embarked on my path as a photographer, working independently for various brands and collaborating with various realities.
Iceberg, Xerjoff, N.21, Pirelli, Zenith, Omega, IBM are just some of the brands I have collaborated with. Always attracted to the world of music, I have photographed the tours of various artists such as Ennio Morricone, Lauryn Hill, Dardust, Tom Odell, Alpha Blondy, Alboroise, Salmo and Mezzosangue.
In 2022, Vogue published a photographic work of mine.
Parallel to my career as a photographer, I also started my career in the audiovisual world as a videomaker and producer.
I have always been attracted and intrigued by people and I like to tell the story that makes them unique through my shots. Documenting for me is not just showing the biography, but the search for the essence of the subjects I choose to photograph.
