TITLE: "Luce Nera"
The Body shaping Light
In this project, there are two protagonists: the Body and the Light, each indispensable to the other for the creation of forms. Sensuality, harmony, but also tension and anguish, intertwine in a generative process through the subtraction of light, where the Body itself unveils and narrates its essence.
AUTHOR: Marco Palermo (Italy)
Marco Palermo, a Still Life and interior photographer, was born in Arezzo in 1986.
His journey into photography began at the age of fourteen when he received his first camera, a digital Olympus, which marked the inception of his lifelong passion. Initially, his shots were simple expressions of his enthusiasm, yet they played a significant role in his personal development. Marco's heart started beating in binary rhythm as he loved capturing the intensity of a moment and, simultaneously, refining it during post-production. This journey commences at the moment he presses the shutter button and concludes in his studio, where he applies his preferred post-processing techniques.
Looking back, pinpointing his turning point is not challenging. Marco vividly recalls winning his first prize in a national photography competition at the age of nineteen while still attending high school in 2005. Fueled by immense motivation, he enrolled in the three-year Photography course at IED in Milan, embarking on a path of technical and stylistic formation. Through internships, he delved into the professional photography realm, gaining insights into the life of a photographer. His experiences, particularly working with architectural photographer Arrigo Coppitz, shaped his understanding of the profession.
Enriched with technical knowledge and practical experience, Marco emerged from this period in 2008 with a clear vision of his future as an independent professional. Following the imprint of his mentor Arrigo Coppitz, he developed a distinctive style, specializing in Still Life and interior photography. Over the next ten years, he also cultivated a passion for industrial reportage and wedding photography. Beyond the technical aspects of photography and framing, Marco appreciates the meticulous study behind selecting the most appropriate lighting to enhance the subject.
Presently, Marco defines himself primarily as a Still Life and interior photographer. He has successfully blended a discreet approach during reportages and weddings with meticulous organization for Still Life and interior photography sets. The responsibility of capturing moments naturally and translating them into compelling photographs continues to excite him. Marco sees the role of a photographer as that of a person who is unobtrusive during events yet attentive and meticulous in setting up photographic scenarios. It is an immense responsibility that never fails to evoke emotion in him. He remains eager to capture moments with spontaneity and present them in the form of captivating photographs.
