Women have asserted themselves into prominent roles within society, and myths surrounding the bodies of African women are being dismantled.

This endeavor seeks to immortalize the vibrant essence of African youth, transcending mere documentation and transforming moments into timeless works of art.

AUTHOR: Elie Akadia (Cote D'Ivoire)

Hailing from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Elie Akadia, a young Ivorian, has been captivated by the allure of beauty since his early days. In 2010, he recognized photography as a powerful means of communication and a tool to break barriers, choosing it as his pastime.

It wasn't until seven years later, amidst pursuing a bachelor's degree in sociology in 2016, that Elie experienced an epiphany. His artistic compass directed him towards a profound exploration of Afro-feminism, black culture, and the narratives of African women. This newfound awareness of the African-American experience and a deepening connection with his African heritage fueled his passion for capturing and expressing the emotions, identity, and history of black women. Within this artistic journey, the narrative of nudity gradually emerged as his favored realm.

Elie Akadia has emerged as the storyteller of the History of the curved lines of the body of the black woman. Under the guidance of his mentor, Ly Lagazelle, he honed his photographic technique. Currently embarking on an explorative journey, Elie seeks practice, evocative lighting, and compelling stories that illuminate the African experience. His focus is on promoting beauty, unity, and inclusivity through the art of photography. Elie Akadia is on a mission to capture and share the diverse beauty and stories that emanate from the rich tapestry of the African experience.
