TITLE: Naked and dressed
My name is Wojciech Wójcik. I am an actor and photographer from Poland fascinated by people, their stories and ways of capturing them on paper. I mostly take analog photos, although recently I've been daring to use digital cameras.
These three photos I am sending to you are part of a larger series entitled "Naked and dressed". Inspired by the works of Helmut Newton, I came up with this idea in the shower, but for a long time I wasn't sure whether it was possible to transfer my imagination to analog film. I took these photos with a Mamiya C220 camera, completely analog. Double exposure seemed to me an interesting way to remove the human masks that we wear every day to somehow function in this strange world.
I remember when I came up with the first picture in this series, I was afraid to take it because I was convinced that it would not work. I walked with this "idea from the shower" for a few months looking for courage and the right moment and model. I met with Agata to take pictures for the already started series "Tribute to Helmut Newton" and asked if she would like to take part in the test of my imagination. I remember saying: "Probably nothing will come of it, but in the end I have to check it out because I can't stop thinking about it.". She agreed. After developing the film, I saw exactly the effect that sat in my head for these many months. "After all, that's it!" I said to Zuza (my partner), who as the second posed me to "Naked and dressed". Felt like I got a long awaited Christmas gift. Beautiful feeling.
